Often time, we
have been misguided by insurance agent whom are looking for quick profit.
The deliberation
on features between personal accident insurance and medical-card insurance are
made to confuse would be insured. No differentiation is made explicitly between
both. The hook is the offer on cheaper premium, equating personal accident with
medical-card insurance is worth an investment because both almost bear similar
medical benefits. Highlights would be the compensation paid on death which
seems higher for personal accident.
As consumer, do
not be taken by this simplistic explanation. There are great difference between
personal accident insurance and medical-card insurance. The former is only
claimable when the hospitalization arises out of accident whilst the later when
insured is hospitalized for his/her illness.
Resulting from
this, insurer on medical-card insurance made it a compulsory requirement for
full medical check-up for its applicant for which approval is in the hand of
the insurance company. As the age goes up the premium will correspondingly be
higher. There are instances where applicant are rejected notably because
applicant has serious illness and have hospitalization history.
Depending on
package offers from the insurer on medical-card insurance, there are terms you
need to be wary of, and i.e. annual limits, deductible, lifetime limits, extend
of critical illness and so on.
Personal
accident insurance should not be taken in replace of medical-card insurance but
complimenting medical-card insurance.
Indifferent
from life insurance coverage, personal accident and medical-card insurance
expired yearly, renewable every year subject to insurer prerogative.
The rule of
thumb is to get the medical-card coverage at an early age as the premium is
relative to age factors.
